In this post, we will be taking a look at how important bees are in the natural and human world and the dangers they face.

The dangers to bees:
Bees face lots of different dangers such as bee diseases, parasites, pesticides, limited floral resources and human beings. We need to protect the bees from these dangers as they are a valuable part of our eco-system. Lets find out why!
Why we need to save them:
Bees collect pollen (a fine powder created by certain plants such as types of flower). They get covered in pollen when they go into the flower and as they go into multiple types of flower, the flowers get different types of pollen mixing with their own. Instead of hurting the plant, it actually helps it to fruit and is a benefit to farmers all over the world. Without them, some crops don't grow as well and there would be less food for for everyone: many plants would disappear and herbivores would struggle to find food, creating less food for the carnivores who rely on the prey to have a good meal.
How to save bees:
Plant a bee garden:
Plant native, pollen-rich plants to help the bees find food.
2. Plant lots of trees:
Bees get most of their pollen from trees in bloom. Plant one flowering tree and not only will you help the bees, but you will also reduce the amount of CO2 in the air. Trees produce oxygen too!
3. Create a bee bath:
Ok, so bees don't like being wet but if you fill a shallow bird bath with water and place some rocks in so they break the surface, the bees can rest on the rock and drink without getting soaked.
4. Going chemical free:
Chemicals are one of the most common bee killers. The worst part, most people don't even realise they are doing it. Someone might think 'I am going to get rid of ----- with pesticides or herbicides'. As well as getting rid of the thing they intended to get rid of however, they get rid of hundreds of bees too! Go chemical free and save the lives of lots of bees!
Thank you:
Thank you to The Bee Conservancy as the info on their website was very useful for this blog.
